Janick Cardiec

Janick Cardiec

“Documentary films allow you to take a fresh look at any subject – be it be political, societal, artistic, environmental… They make you want to learn and understand the world  differently. First Move’s films take us to new horizons: I am proud to play a part in this.”  

Janick has over 35 years’ years experience of TV and video production, creating documentaries, investigation and entertainment content. Janick studied French  literature and communications. She then worked for major channels and production companies in Belgium and France (RTL TVI, RTBF, La 5, Kuiv production,  Ellipse…) and for her own account.  

Janick contributed as journalist and director to « Questions à la Une », the RTBF information magazine known for its 26-minute reportages. She authored and co directed a widely broadcast « Urgences vétérinaires » TV series on the reality of a veterinary clinic. She also authored and directed a 52 minute documentary on  Belgian artist Isabelle de Borchgrave and a documentary series on a selection of Belgian châteaux and their landlords « Des châteaux et des hommes ».  

Alain Galaski 

“What better than a documentary to bring to life both individual stories and wider societal issues? And how admirable when it has impact and creates change!”  

Alain was Director General of the European Brands Association for 25 years until he retired in 2017. As such, he led industry-wide initiatives, including as Managing  Director of ECR (Efficient Consumer Response) Europe, a platform established to embed best practices for brand manufacturers and retailers, from its launch in 1994 to 2011. Others initiatives focused on sustainability, consumer policy, fair trading, fair competition and the protection of intellectual property.  

Alain studied international relations and European affairs in Jerusalem and Strasbourg. He is now engaged in voluntary work with an intercultural and intergeneration  dimension, in particular for the international youth exchange programme AFS and as a mentor in social enterprise Duo for a Job.  

Truus Huisman

“Movies and documentaries give us a different perspective, they allow us to discover new realities. They have the power to change hearts and minds. First Move does all of this. I’m proud to join this journey of discovery.”  

Truus has over 25 years’ experience in Communications with a specialisation in Sustainability, Public Affairs and Issues Management. Before joining the IKEA  Foundation as Chief Communications Officer, she was part of Unilever’s European Leadership team in Rotterdam as VP Sustainable Business and  Communications. Prior to this, she led Unilever’s Global Issues, Crisis Management and Media Relations in London, and was also responsible for Unilever’s EU  Affairs office in Brussels.  

Truus studied History and Management of International Organisations and specialised in Sustainable Business at the Cambridge Institute for Sustainability  Leadership and in Social Finance at the Oxford Said Business School. She was a trainee with the US Congress and The European Institute in Washington, DC.  Truus has also managed professional organisations, provided consultancy services and contributed to publications and articles on issues, crises and stakeholders  management. She is a lecturer at the Erasmus School of History, Culture and Communication in Rotterdam.
